Restaurant – Wine Bar “MADAM” – Targu Jiu

In 2016 we celebrated 140 years since the birth of the great sculptor Constantin Brâncuşi.

In the next article we will present the restaurant “Madam” from Targu Jiu. An arrangement made by Evosign in 2016, a place where modern lines of interior design, beautiful Romanian decorations with Brancusian inspiration, international cuisine and the vibrant atmosphere of a wine bar are beautifully intertwined.

Located in the center of the city, on the historical axis of the monumental ensemble “Constantin Brancusi”, the restaurant stands out from the outside, with a current design, black metal joinery that shines imposingly under the light given by spotlights and illuminated advertisements.

The interior is visible from the outside through the transparency of the shop windows – a base of warm tones and colors given by the solid wood furniture and parquet, arranged on an apparent brick background, which offers the welcoming atmosphere of the place; spicy atmosphere with black metallic accents – contour frames for furniture – in relation to the visible and imposing carpentry of windows and contemporary lighting fixtures with a light industrial look.

On this warm background that invites passers-by to enter to taste the dishes carefully prepared in the kitchen, you are electrified by the red-orange color of the chairs and suddenly the space turns into a vibrant one, where you can choose to taste this time one of the wines from the bar.

The ceiling has 3 boxes in which are mounted wine barrels inscribed with the names of various wineries and collaborating distilleries. Thus disappear elements of branding too typical specific to different wine brands. In represents a special design element, which highlights the ceiling.

The dividers between the sofas are decorative pieces of furniture inspired by Brancusi’s “Endless Column”. However, they also offer wine bottle display areas. The specially designed paintings present a selection of Brancusi’s works of art and architecture. It is the way in which the restaurant pays homage to the great artist.

Being an important piece of design, the bar is usefully dimensioned and structured, but at the same time it received the necessary attention from a stylistic point of view: black metal shelves correlated with wooden shelves, glass cladding and a special background for bar stools, made of miniatures. of dark green wine bottles.

The first visit to Brancusi’s city took place at the beginning of 2016. The space hosted an old restaurant, with a formed clientele.

The theme was to create a wine bar-restaurant in a contemporary style. With an international cuisine and a tailored interior design, in modern lines, effect details composing a welcoming atmosphere. It was wanted to raise the local standard in the field, bringing a new, young breath. The message sent: homage to Brancusi.

The period of creation and design was one with pleasant memories. We worked on a beautiful space, with owners who knew very well what they wanted to achieve and who also understood that the designer must have the creative freedom of a well-made brief client.

And because there is no project without a construction site and in this case the execution stage was a complex one: there were also adventures and delays and unexpected events, but the most pleasant moments were those in which a stage is completed, no matter how small – and it brought with it the satisfaction and fulfillment of accomplishing something that until then had only been a colorful image and a beautiful hope in the designer’s mind.

Emotional involvement exists in any work, to realize an interior design project means not only to know all the technical and functional details and to organize them coherently, but most of the time, it means to give a little of your soul and to insert it in small details that give life and atmosphere to the arrangement.

Such a beautifully implemented project that respects the initial concept, we consider it a successful project.
